So a little context...
I'm a big fan of The Prodigy. Been a fan since '93. And I've been a part of a few fan forums for The Prodigy over the years back when forums were all the rage. One of them is called Brainkiller, which I joined back in 2001. Liam Howlett of The Prodigy would secretly peruse it. And it eventually got big enough that BK got to interview Liam a couple times and management would send merch for the forum's competitions. Brainkiller is still going strong and moved to Discord. It is the longest running active Prodigy fan community.
Back in 2003, the community decided to host their own music competitions where members could send in their original tracks and the community would vote on them. The first competition had 70 entries. The 12 most voted tracks would go onto a compilation, which was called Music From The Jilted Generation in honor of The Prodigy's second album album. The competition and compilation got so popular that there ended being 5 volumes over 10 years.
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, 2023 was the 20th anniversary of that first compilation. And when I saw that 2024 was gonna be the 30th anniversary of The Prodigy's Music For The Jilted Generation, I thought this would be the perfect moment to bring everything full circle. So for the last 18 months, I organized a remix album for Jilted featuring producers I've met over the years through the community and its music compilations. Thought it'd be a cool way to honor the album on its 30th anniversary as well as the Brainkiller community that's still going strong. So a group of a dozen producers gathered together to tackle the daunting task of remixing one of the greatest albums of all time. A free remix album for Prodigy fans made by Prodigy fans.
Since we dropped it this past Saturday, it's been downloaded over 2,100 times on Bandcamp and has over 7K views on YouTube. I even got an e-mail from Liam Howlett himself praising it and calling it "fukin mega." So I wanted to share it here with you all.
You can download and stream for free below.
