Hardware (Instruments and Effects) • A MIDI keyboard with a colour display - oh the humanity!

Some time ago, I posted asking why no keyboards (or at least, no reasonably priced MIDI keyboards) come with a full colour display, of at least 6" size (i.e. not a tiny little useless display). I was lambasted and scolded for daring to ask such a question. After all, we all know it's so much easier to design and manufacture 200 knobs on a keyboard, than to write software that is displayed on a touch screen that costs £10, and has 200 knobs on its interface... (sarcasm).

Well now I've found a keyboard with a display: the Akai MPC Key 37.

No doubt the usual KVR idiots (the ones with 20,000+ post counts who apparently LIVE on this website) will attack me for unknown reasons... and the Akai is far too expensive for what it is.

So why aren't manufacturers including £10 mobile phone touch displays (like the one on my cheap £70 Motorola E13 phone) on their keyboards? Look at Native Instruments' crappy keyboard displays - as if colour displays are just SO expensive nowadays that they could only afford to supply a monochrome display the size of a postage stamp - just laughable.
